What’s the Need?

Home What’s the Need?

It's more than just a vision, it's a necessity.

Whilst 87% of teenagers and young adults are now surviving cancer for five years or more, medically overcoming cancer is just part of the struggle they face.

For teenagers and young adults, cancer has a detrimental impact on their key developmental years; affecting their mental and physical health, friendships and relationships, education and employment, and confidence and self-esteem.

If unaddressed, these concerns will follow them into adulthood; often dictating the decisions they make, depriving them of key opportunities, and consuming the rest of their lives.

It is essential that young people have access to regular, ongoing support outside of medical care, as they process the trauma they have been through, adapt to life with cancer, and navigate the years that follow.

Teens Unite remains the only charity to provide teenagers and young adults with this support; it is not available from any other organisation or healthcare provider. As a result, we are experiencing an annual 21% increase in registrations.

This new facility is vital for Teens Unite to keep up with demand, and ensure that teenagers and young adults have the opportunity to thrive, without cancer holding them back.
